We have always done our own landscaping at previous houses and even at this house: so far, just re-mulching what the builder put in and adding some metal edging.  We decided earlier in the year to get professionally re-done.  Then, the Ice-pocalypse happened and EVERYONE's landscaping died.  Fortunately, we were already in the queue.  I think they are almost done - there are a few minor things to clean up.  The image should alternate between before and after as it's an animated GIF, but if that doesn't work, the before/after photos are below.
